The One Point donates 100 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes
10th Dec 2020
For the 7th year in a row, The One Point continues with our tradition of sending 100 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to disadvantaged boys and girls around the world.
This year, we packed 100 shoeboxes for children aged 4 - 10, with 50 of the boxes to be delivered to boys and 50 of the boxes to be delivered to girls. Each box is filled with essential hygiene items, stationery and school items, toys and games.
With the added challenge of making sure our team were able to safely take part this year by ensuring we were safely socially distanced. But this didn't stop those who could from taking part and having a great time making sure current events did not get in the way of keeping up with our Christmas charitable donations.
Here are some photos from the day.
The boxes are then packed up sent to drop off centres organised by the charity Samaritans Purse, who will then distribute the shoeboxes to numerous global locations reaching children whom would not otherwise receive a gift this Christmas. Samaritan's Purse volunteers have worked extra hard this year to make sure children around the world can still receive shoeboxes filled with gifts.
This year we were able to make use of our event space as a base to organise our traditional Christmas activity. An invitation to all staff was sent out to help out with one of the many tasks involved, including assembling boxes, organising items, packing, labelling and preparing them for distribution.
On the day, staff from all departments volunteered to take part and help spread Christmas cheer this year. Several of our staff even donated items they had collected themselves throughout the year.
This Christmas marked our 7th year of donating Christmas shoeboxes.
